Search replace list: UTF-8 support
When you have a Search Replace List filter, the choice exists between using an External file or Using these values.
When using Find type = Perl, you can specify Enable UTF-8 Support.
Unfortunately, it would seem that UTF-8 support works only for External file, but not for Using these values.
At least, that's been my experience for a long while.
When I paste in characters beyond U+007F - it seems to treat the replacements as other than UTF-8.
Is this just me, or is this a bug?
David

Re: Search replace list: UTF-8 support
Hi David,
UTF-8 has never worked in either case.
I have examined the code for this, and in addition to allowing for Unicode filenames, I have changed the code to accept UTF-8 from an external file. UTF-8 from the grid still does not work - the grid does not display or store unicode correctly. This will be re-implemented in a future version soon.

Thanks Simon.
That confirms it wasn't just me doing something daft.

No! - there is lots of Unicode tidying up to be done.
I know you use the Standard version, but we have an 8.9 Pro Beta available - http://www.datamystic.com/textpipeprobeta.exe
The full release will be tomorrow if no big bugs are found - could you please check it out? Let me know what you think!

Simon,
I've just downloaded it, so you can remove the link now.
Are there any adverse consequences for a Standard user trying out a Pro Beta ?

That's actually a permanent link - it is an eval version. The secure area has a matching link for the beta version of the Pro (we don't do this for standard).
No adverse effects - but you will need to re-install your current Standard version after testing it out.

Thanks Simon,
Doubt if I'll have time to try it out before next week, and by that time you'll probably have released it.
