I am trying to something which should be simple and that is for folder of .html files
Find <!-- saved from url=
Replace
That is, find the string and replace it with nothing. I have tried every relevant replace filter and noting is ever found. So, I tried just finding the word "saved" and replacing that with either nothing or with "test" just to see. Again nothing.
I cannot get these replace filters to work with any kind of file or string. Am I supposed to enter anything in the Find box other than the string I am searching like brackets or quotation marks?
Can't seem to do a simple search and replace

Are the HTML files Unicode? Check by putting on in the file grid, then right click and choose 'Analyze file'.
If so, you need to use a Unicode search/replace.
If this doesn't help, please email me the HTML file and your filter.
