Extract Match and PDF files

I am trying to use "Extract" filter on a pdf file but it does not match the input string. I copied the text from pdf to a simple txt file and it works fine. Is there something extra to do with pdf(binary) files for Extract filter?

PDF is not a text file format - TextPipe doesn't work with it.
