Incorrect status log for counting Remove blank lines

Post by dfhtextpipe »

When the Remove blank lines filter is used, the status log reports the number of lines processed, not the number of lines removed,
even though the log output uses the description [so many]" blank line(s) removed".

I think this is a serious bug in TextPipe.

Also, these related filters do not generate any log output counts!
  • Remove blanks from start
    Remove blanks from end
    Remove multiple whitespace

Thanks for that.

We can change TP so that

Code: Select all

Remove blanks from start
Remove blanks from end
Remove multiple whitespace
return the number of lines that have been changed

Not forgetting the first point too!

...... and to correct how it reports for lines removed by Remove Blank Lines, which was my main point in the first paragraph.

We've now added stats (for the next release) for

Code: Select all

Remove blanks from start
Remove blanks from end
but

Code: Select all

Remove multiple whitespace
does not process line-by-line so we aren't changing that.

We've also fixed up the logging for Remove Blank Lines.

Note that not all filters provide logging descriptions. This is intentional, however if you have a need we can add logging facilities.

Version number in the help about <> version on website

Post by dfhtextpipe »

Hi Simon,

I just downloaded and installed the latest version of TextPipe Standard.

Help about says it is version 8.0.8
The website says the latest version is 8.0.9

Why the discrepancy?

Best regards,
David Haslam

PS. Also the copyright latest date in help about is 2007, rather than 2008.
