PowerPointPipe:How to run without ANY manual intervention?

Post by SCoreTeam »

We manage many servers and server shares with literally millions of files. We routinely shuffle shares to different servers.

This task requires us to change hyperlinks in PowerPoints (and Word and Excel - but I'll focus the question on PowerPointPipe for now) from "\\OriginalServer\ShareX\" to "\\NewServer\ShareX"

We have many files protected with passwords; some files require a password to open; other files give the option to enter password, or open as Read-Only, or Cancel.

All these require manual intervention - taking up hours of clicking the "Cancel" and "Read-Only" buttons.

We'd like to execute PowerPointPipe and let it run to completion without us manually clicking off popup warnings (Cancel/Read-Only, etc.)

Is there a way to suppress ALL popups during execution?

If PowerPointPipe does not support this, then how can we submit this a feature request for future version?

NOTE there are other popups which require manual intervention:
1) "Windows is searching for xxxx.ppt. To locate the file yourself, Click Browse."

It presents two buttons: "Browse..." or "Cancel"
2) "This presentation contains links to other files
If you update the links, PowerPoint will attempt .....?

It presents three buttons" "Update Links", "Cancel", "Help"

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late reply.

Did you uncheck the option to 'Process read only files'?
Did you uncheck the option to 'Allow alerts?

This will eliminate almost if not all the messages.

We can't suppress all popups (linked files in particular), but passwords should be automatically skipped if they are wrong.

If that's not what you're seeing, please let us know which version of PowerPointPipe and MS PowerPoint you have.

Mr. Simon Carter

This is disturbing!!!
It seemed our two previous posts were removed.

First time - we politely complained of the very slow response from the company. That was removed.

(Ed: Our Business Architect was having a baby)

Second time - we provided the details of our settings as requested by Simon Carter and stated our needs. Perhaps, the company couldn't support what we asked for....That post was also REMOVED instead of addressing the issue.

We represent a big company and we spent thousands on licenses for Word/PowerPoint/Excel pipes.
Other groups within our company contacted us and expressed interest in using this product.

I believe most if not all of your questions were answered above, and you still haven't got back to us with answers on those.

I don't remember the content of the deleted replies, but we only delete items that are inflammatory, wrong or suggest competitor products, which is fair enough.

If you have an issue we'll be more than happy to deal with it via email, not in a public forum.
