We also have user reports that TextPipe will run under Linux's WINE emulator.

Items not available - generally provided by Windows APIs
  • The Script filter is not available
  • Database filter
  • HTML Help - if you open Help expect TextPipe to crash on exit (due to a Windows HTML Help bug)
  • Explorer Shell integration - doesn't work
1) WINE details:
a) Ubuntu Linux v 8.10, Linux Kernel version 2.6.27-9-generic, GNOME 2.24.1
b) WINE v1.0.1, configured to emulate WinXP

The below .reg file can be used to disable the initial dialogs such as the Wizard, Tips, help etc:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DataMystic\TextPipe]
"showTips"=dword:00000000
"showWizard"=dword:00000001
"isFirstDay"=dword:00000000

Well, there's lots of emulation going on. You have to expect that it wont be blindingly fast!

Win32 is the 32-bit application programming interface (API) modern versions of Windows. The API consists of functions implemented, as with Win16, in system DLLs. The core DLLs of Win32 are kernel32.dll, user32.dll, and gdi32.dll. Win32 was introduced with Windows NT.
