Although there is a filter to Convert UTF-16 LE to Escaped Unicode (ASCII + UCN \U), why is there no corresponding inverse filter?
i.e. Convert Escaped Unicode to UTF-16 LE

Because it really depends on what output format you want.
Use etext\Escaped Unicode (ASCII + UCN) to UTF-8.fll
