reference to filename in output

Post by shwalker »

I'm using TextPipe Web for PCPlus v6.5.2 to extract and convert large volumes of historical files to a new format. Is there a way to reference the original path and filename in the output stream?

I have numerous directories of files which have a date and time stamp encoded in them, such as
c:\mypath\Nov02-1355CST\myfilenames01.html
and what I'm trying to do is extract specific data FROM myfilenames01.html and write out a new file containing the extracted data, however I need to somehow incorporate the date and time stamp (Nov02-1355CST) from the source path INTO the output data - although not necessarily into the output path.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for a great product.

Thanks S,

Use the right click menus of the Add Header, Footer, Left/Right Margin filters to insert macros that will embed the current filename with or without the path.

Have you considered upgrading to the latest version?

Thanks for the reply.....but...

it seems that perhaps I don't have such a filter. My 'Add' menu only shows 'Line Numbers'.

Did I lose something along the way?

Ah - that filter is not in TextPipe Web, only Standard and Pro.
