File input from Excel workbooks

Post by dfhtextpipe »

Suggested enhancement to the GUI for the file input filter:

When an input file is an Excel workbook, provide a tick box option to Ignore hidden worksheets.

Another related idea: Provide a tick box option to choose Treat each worksheet as a separate input file.
Each inputFilename for this option would need to be derived from the worksheet name.

I have assumed that for multiple worksheets, the way TextPipe currently works would be to process all the sheets into the same output stream.
I have not tested that this is the case. The help file makes no reference to multiple worksheets in an Excel file. Please clarify.

Best regards,

David

TextPipe adds a form feed between each sheet in the output file.

For now, I am playing with the filter skipping hidden (and very hidden) sheets. I will look into it more tomorrow.

Another two suggestion:
  • Provide a tick box option to get cell contents as formulae rather than as values.
Provide a tick box option to get cell comments as well, ideally suitably tagged.
