Webpipe projects stuck with 1000 downloads still in queu

So I've been using Webpipe happily on XP/7 for a while now, but I've transferred the operation over to a particular XP machine that executes WP projects but then mysteriously stops with exactly 1,000 files remaining to download in the project. It does this for some projects but (I think, am still trying to understand scope of the problem) not for all. What is going on here and how can I get it to push through to the end ?
