Issue with Base64 extraction of Word docs?

Hello, do you know if there are any issues with Textpipe (Textpipe Pro 9.1) decoding base64 word documents? We are seeing issues with the document constantly being corrupted on decode.
As a test I created a simple filter that just does a Mime Encode (base 64) and then took the resulting generated file and ran it through another filter that had just a Mime Decode (base 64). The resulting doc created would not open in word saying the document was corrupted.
Do you have any idea why this would be the case?
