TextPipe 8.0 File | Sendto option causes popup error message

Post by dfhtextpipe »

Selecting the Send to... option under the File menu causes a popup error message, Invalid class string.

This feature seems to be undocumented. A search for "Send to" in the Help gave no clues.

Thanks David - is this with a normal install of TextPipe?

File | Sendto error message.

Post by dfhtextpipe »

Yes - I did nothing special, first I uninstalled the previous v7.9.5, then installed v8.0 of TextPipe Standard. The error message is repeatable.

System is Windows XP on Acer Aspire 5630. The XP Media Edition is fully patched with all the relevant security patches from Microsoft.

What is this menu option supposed to do?

If Outlook is installed, this attaches the current filter to an email ready to send to DataMystic support.

We've update the help file with this item.

Do you have Outlook (not express) installed?

Looks like this feature is intended to perform a similar task to Windows Context menu | Sendto | Mail recipient

Would it not be better to launch the current user's email client rather than one particular client?

I don't use Outlook for email, though it may possibly be installed by default in WinXP. I'll check when I get home. My preferred email client is Eudora, which I've been using for 11 years.

If there is generic code that works with the majority of popular email clients then please let us know.

Simon,

In Windows, isn't this a call that can be passed to sendmail.dll ?

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1915207013-2615040368-3076929458-30363\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache

has for Sendto Mail Recipent

@sendmail.dll,-4

Which application it gets sent to is presumably set elsewhere in the registry, as per the Internet Properties | Programs tab.
