I am trying to search pdf files on the web and return that data into an excel file; can this be done? I do not know too much about the data format (obbc?) that wordpipe or textpipe use. Could you please help me?

Use TextPipe Pro's filter to Filters\Convert\PDF documents to text.

Then use the inbuilt patterns to match and extract the text
