Address errors in Server version

Post by KBliss »

I'm running into address errors while running 8.6.2 Server Edition. The error I'm seeing is:

Access violation at address 00019F43 in module 'textpipe.exe'. Read of address 7EF9F010

This appears to only happen when I run a mainframe copybook filter. If I use the mainframe copybook wizard, it's not a problem. This is being run on MS-Windows Server 2003 R2 with Service Pack 2.

What other information will you need?

Hi Ken,

The Server version of the Mainframe Copybook Filter makes use of multi-threading for higher speed. Can you please send us your filter, and a small test file that reproduces the error?

BTW - we are currently closed for our Winter break until 8-Oct, so it's unlikely we can give you a proper resolution until then.

In the meantime we can recommend using the Wizard as you have already found.

I've included a filter and a sample file with 10,000 records in it. Some times the filter will hang immediately. Some times it will give the address error after it processes some records. I've been able to get it to bomb every time.

Enjoy your winter break! (Sigh. I wish we had such things in the States.) :D

Thanks,
Ken Bliss

Hi Ken,

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you on this one.

The Server version automatically included a Split CPU filter at the end of copybook processing, prior to the trimming and other filters that normally ran on another CPU.

The structure of this filter has now changed so the Split CPU filter is not required, so we have removed this automatic inclusion. You will see this in TP8.6.6 shortly.

Hi, Simon,

Sounds good! I'll get it downloaded and check it out.
