I just tried unticking Process inside compressed files
clicking the button labelled Use these settings as defaults
and then closing the Untitled1 filter (without saving it).
After opening a New filter, the defaults were as they were originally!
Why did the changed defaults not get written to the registry?
Best regards,
David

Re: File input filter - Use these settings as defaults - doesn't work
The New filter comes from the template Normal.fll, so the Input and Output Filters and any other filters get loaded from there.

That doesn't explain anything. The button did not do what it's label describes!
What else is required of the user to make this work as intended?

Perhaps it should just be invisible on the Input and Output filters.

I have implemented a better approach for 10.0.6 - when you click the button, it advises you of the purpose and location of Normal.fll.
