Clicking Cancel while the filter is processing Run sub-filter X times doesn't interrupt that.
Try increasing X to 400 and see what happens.
You can click Cancel repeatedly and the same dialog pops up, even if you confirm.
Cancel should cancel - not wait until a special filter has finished its task.

The Run subfilter X times filter just generates X copies of the subfilters. So whether this works or not is dependant on the actual subfilters.
